September 20, 201015 yr Hello,I was flying one flight, Stockholm-Berlin Tegel. I was taking that flight four times at different times, during the day nd late night.I was used to use the 3-PD to reach the T/D point and then descent. When I am flying those flights in all cases to Berling Tegel I got on 3-PD reuest NEgative the first time then after asking again I got PD to lower Flight Level. When I am flying to Stockholm I am ALWAYS giving a negative on PD. What I am doing is to ask again and again and again until I reach T/D and then accept the descent. Why do I always get negative on PD?I do not know if it can be associated with me using AISmooth? Is Radar Contact somehow not allowing PD cause of AISmooth?Thank you very much for help.Sincerly/Artur Artur Scholl

JD will be able to give the definitive answer. During testing many years ago I requested PD seven times I think before it was granted. Not entirely realistic I know but keep requesting and eventually you wil prevailIt's not related to any 3rd party programs either. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 21, 201015 yr Author Thank you Sir, I'll wait for JD to response as well. It is maybe editable in some file to be always granted? Or an option I've missed? Artur Scholl

September 22, 201015 yr Author Okay... thank you.I just found it not so random flying the same route four times with the same results :). Artur Scholl
September 24, 201015 yr Author I did take the same route yesterday and 57nm out from T/D I asked for PD with again, NEGATIVE response.I think I asked for it 12 times before finally ending up at T/D-point to start my descent and finally accept it.I do not know why flying to Stockholm Arlanda and to different runways on different times of the day always puts me in the position of NEGATIVE PD.And, what's more interesting is that it began after updating to version 4.3 from 4.1.I might go back to 4.1 simply because of that but what's different between those two versions? If you haven't then you may be closer to RC's ToD than you think. It may be that once you enter than waypoint/restriction you do need to start down which is why RC is being so persistent. I often use the PD option and more often than not I am granted it. I can assure you switching back to 4.1 will not help. This is not a widespread problem so do what I suggest above and see how you get on. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 27, 201015 yr Author You say you were 57miles from ToD but have you included in your plan a waypoint 40 miles from Arlanda with an altitude restriction of FL120? If you haven't then you may be closer to RC's ToD than you think.According to the flightplan the crossing at STAR TRS is 15000 feet. I almost always in my FMC change it to 12000 feet. TRS is 42nm out from the airport Arlanda. So I do not clearly understand the waypoint option you describe. I load my plan from Vroute. It may be that once you enter than waypoint/restriction you do need to start down which is why RC is being so persistent. Which means?Sorry just to bother you with that crap of mine :) but it's getting on my fragile nerves a bit :)Hehe... Artur Scholl

I load my plan from Vroute. In the situation you describe you have a waypoint just outside the 40 mile radius so setting an altitude restiction for it is fine. Other times there may not be a waypoint near to 40 miles so you can use the CDU to create one. They all work a little differently so check your manual. Can you post your plan here and I'll see what happens when I fly it. There's no way you should be refused PD every time you request it.Sorry just to bother you with that crap of mine :) but it's getting on my fragile nerves a bit :) Hehe...That's alright. It would irritate me too. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 28, 201015 yr Author Since I can't upload here (.zip or .pln)Here it is:http://airliners-atc.com/EDDT_ESSA.zipI use Berlin Tegel X for FS2004 and Mega Airport Stockholm Arlanda.Using FS9.1 on win7 64bit system. The zip file contains fs2004 & fsx export from vroute. The route is:RAKIT UN33 DEKIK UN851 TRSI usually take STAR TRS2J when straight in. I think you should use it cause I did. (http://www.lfv.se/AIP/AD/AD%202/ESSA/ES_AD_2_ESSA_4_65_en.pdf)There is TRS3M which I never tested cause of the time of the day I flew there was not so much traffic to the airport, hence not using TRS3M (http://www.lfv.se/AIP/AD/AD%202/ESSA/ES_AD_2_ESSA_4_7_en.pdf)Thanks for helping me out with this Sir.Cheers & happy flying from Berlin Tegel to Arlanda :) Artur Scholl
September 28, 201015 yr Moderator Hi again,I flew the flight and was given a PD when requested. I know this will probably irritate you but I expected to get the PD as I usually do. I started down 10DME before MIKNA.That wouldn't have affected the PD request. All I can suggest is you make a log and send it to JD for him to analyse. Sorry I can't help further.
