Running on two systems for multi-monitor in FS2004

Recommended Posts

I've just built my new upgrade and, as a result, have enough 'spare parts' to build a second PC. I would like, in the future (after building a sim-pit), to use multi-monitors and have read about the changes and problems to multi-monitor support under FS2004. Since I can effectively use a dedicated second system though, are there still problems present?I.e. is anyone using networked systems to run FS2004 atm?I would be using a P4 2.8/1GB/Radeon 9800pro as the main system with a XP2000/512MB/Ti4600 as the second system. I assume I would need a registered copy of WideFS? Is this right?Since both graphic cards are dual output, I assume that I would also have the option of adding two additional outputs? (probably wouldn't use but I do have a small CCTV monitor that could display a gps or something)Any advice...?Thanks.

I have WideFS which links an older computer to my P4PE Asus 2.4 GHz primary FS computer. WideFS will not link a copy of FS2004 running on the primary computer with a second instance of FS2004 running on the second computer, as far as I know.WideFS just allows external programs, such as Flight Tracker and ActiveWXRe running on the secondary computer, to affect FS2004 running on the primary computer. WideFS gives those programs read (and sometimes write) access to lat./long. and other internals of FS2004 on the primary computer. The thought is very interesting, though. If there ** WAS ** a way to link two copies of the program running on separate computers, that might give me enough horsepower to actually turn the sliders up!!Maybe this will inspire someone to figure this out!Larry JonesFlorence, MT

I thought it was a generally common thing, maybe not using WideFS, but I've seen others with 2+ systems running one flight. That frequently posted image of someones setup with a big semi-circular bank of monitors driven by five or six PC's... What's needed to set the same sort of thing up?
