September 12, 200322 yr When I'm in 2D cockpit mode, or after switching from FSNavigator, this is what the screen looks like most of the time. If I press the alt key, then click on the main screen again, it goes back to normal (after the screen has blinked on and off for 5 or so seconds, argh.)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/36463.jpgI've tried messing with the multi_res setting but that dosn't seem to help. Thoughts?I'm also getting a lot of flickering switching back and forth from the menu and/or fsnavigator. I've read on the boards that this seems to be a problem with the Radeon 9800 Pro, so maybe there's just nothing I can do about it or maybe it's related...Thx,Billg
September 12, 200322 yr New video card after installing FS9? If so, try making a backup copy of your FS9.cfg file (ie. "copy of FS9.cfg"), delete the original FS9.cfg, then run FS9 to "retrain" it to your video card and see if that makes any difference. Go to the thread "HELL'S TEETH - A SUMMARY" here http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=143266&page=6 for more detail on how to do this, and what this does. The flickering thing is a fact of life with Radeon 9x00 cards at the moment, even with the latest drivers. Windowed mode gets rid of the problem entirely, but it ruins the immersion factor for some people. Fortunately, I got used to flying windowed mode using VATSIM, so it doesn't bug me in the least!Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
September 12, 200322 yr Gary, thx much! In the last hour it's only happened once, whereas before it was happening every 2nd time I accessed the menu or hit F10 or brought up FSNavigator. Much much better. I kludged the flickering when bringing up the menu problem. I changed the settings in windows to hide the task bar menu on the bottom of the screen, then in the fs9.cfg file I set HideMenuNormal=1, which hides the menu in windowed mode until you hit the alt key. Now, in windowed mode I don't have a menu on the top or the bottom. I resized the screen to as large as I could get it. I was still left with just a little bit showing on the bottom so I used my monitor adjustment to resize the screen and now I'm running in windowed mode but it looks like full screen mode, hehe. Thanks again.rgds, billg
