September 14, 200322 yr Hi,I just installed FS2004, WOW, is this nice. I have been using Microsoft flight sims ever since they released FS98. The question that I have is about the lack of brightness with the scenery. I have turned up the brightness and the contrast to the max on my monitor but the scenery is still really dark. I fly at the mid of day and the green scenery is dark. It looks like it is at dusk or at dawn. The sky and the aircraft look great with the proper brightness. I have a new, high end system, so I don't think it has to do with the lack of computing power. Have any of you had this problem, if so, how did you resolve the issue. Thanks,Tom
September 14, 200322 yr It's an old problem. For me it's sometimes improvedby flying with then sun at my back. I've spoken earnestlyto Microsoft about it, but it stays the same over the years.I can't understand why they don't fix it. There's probably a goodreason, just wish they'd tell us. Just a dead silence over many years. If I use the Southern England VFR it's not dark, it's great. The Leonardo of the textures, Lennart used to say that it has to dowith height. You can make textures look good down low, or you can make them look from great height, but you can't do both.Cheers,Peter Sydney Australia
September 15, 200322 yr I've observed the same thing. In certain areas (eastern part of US, for example), because (I'm guessing) of the dark ground scenery, the ambiant atmospheric light seems too low, making mid-day appear more like pre-dusk. However, fly over some desert terrain, like south Arizona, and things brighten up considerably.Bob
