Hi,I did import from FS2002 to FS2004 the effects XML gauges made for the OV-10 BRONCO aircraft by I. Candymaker AND they work perfectly, I use them for all my aircrafts (even jets) so I have (again) the Wing and Flaps vortices , and the smoke for the prop machinesI do not remember from where they come"********************August 30 2002*************************************************FS2002 XML gauge eye candy effects; turbo-prop engine smoke and wing/flap vortices.*************************************************************************************These effects are for the OV-10A BRONCO/OV-10 CDF aircraft by Tim Piglet Conrad************************************************************************************************Thanks! Tim, for a great pair of aircraft!!!****************************Thanks to those who provided XML gauge inspiration, and others who emailed support!*****************************************************************************************User must download and install either or both of the aircraft first********** "OV-10CD2.zip" and/or "OV_10A.zip" (and minor panel fix "CDF_FIX.zip)***********************************************************************************TWO folders are included in this download; FIVE steps are needed for installation:STEP ONE:(EFFECTS)folder contains three small FX files. Just copy and paste into the FS2K2 "Effects" folder. These are new files, not replacing any.STEP TWO:(GAUGES)folder contains a folder "ICFXgauges". Just copy and paste this folder into the FS2K2 "Gauges" folder. Note:If you already have a folder named "ICFXgauges" installed, (from Icfx001.zip effects for the S-3B Viking(Rick Sasala)) then just add the eight new XML gauges from the included folder to the one you already have. STEP THREE:The following lines are to be added to the OV-10 "aircraft.cfg" file (found in the "Aircraft" folder) at the end of the [LIGHTS] section.Just copy and paste into your "aircraft.cfg", confirming that the "light.XX" numbersare next in sequence, using NOTEPAD...///////////////wingvortex////////////////light.9=2, -6.00, -20.00, 1.3, fx_OV-10wingtiplight.10=2, -6.00, 20.00, 1.3, fx_OV-10wingtip///////////////flapvortex////////////////light.11=9, -6.00, -13.20, 0.5, fx_OV-10flaptiplight.12=9, -6.00, 13.20, 0.5, fx_OV-10flaptipNote that "light.9" and "light.10" are type "=2", meaning they are "strobes", and arenormally controlled by the "O" key. The XML gauge takes over this function for the effects, so you should change any other lights having "=2" to "=1", thus making them "beacons" instead. If this step is not taken, no harm is done; only the "strobes" will go on and off along with the effects. (type "9" is "logo" lights, not otherwise used)STEP FOUR:The following lines are to be added to the OV-10 "aircraft.cfg" file (found in the "Aircraft" folder), somewhere in the middle, maybe after the [LIGHTS] or [EFFECTS] section.Just copy and paste into your "aircraft.cfg", using NOTEPAD...[sMOKESYSTEM]smoke.0=0.0,-1.0, -9.8, fx_OV-10smokesmoke.1=0.0,-1.0, 9.8, fx_OV-10smokeNote:If you already have a [sMOKESYSTEM] section, just replace the "smoke.X=......" entries only..STEP FIVE:The following lines are to be added to the OV-10 "panel.cfg" file (found in the "Panel" folder), at the end of the [Vcockpit01] section.Just copy and paste into your "panel.cfg", confirming that the "gaugeXX" numbers are next in sequence, using NOTEPAD...//////////////// wing vortex /////////////////////gauge28=ICFXgauges!OV-10WingtipSTROBE01R, 1,1,0 //pull 1.00 Geegauge28=ICFXgauges!OV-10WingtipSTROBE43R, 1,1,0 //pull 1.33 Gee//gauge28=ICFXgauges!OV-10WingtipSTROBE32R, 1,1,0 //pull 1.50 Gee//gauge28=ICFXgauges!OV-10WingtipSTROBE74R, 1,1,0 //pull 1.75 Gee //gauge28=ICFXgauges!OV-10WingtipSTROBE02R, 1,1,0 //pull 2.00 Gee//gauge28=ICFXgauges!OV-10WingtipSTROB104R, 1,1,0 //pull 2.50 Gee//////////////// flap vortex ///////////////////gauge29=ICFXgauges!OV-10FlaptipLOGO, 3,3,0//////////////// turbo-prop smoke //////////////gauge30=ICFXgauges!OV-10ExhaustSmokeKts, 3,3,0Note: "gauge28" has six choices of "Gee" pull... just remove the first two slashes from any one of them to select it( only one at a time allowed).*************************************************These five steps complete the installation.*************************************************Note:These effects will work with the OV-10A Bronco(Tim Conrad) as well, just repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 above with that aircraft, changing the "gaugeXX" and "light.XX"numbers to be next in sequence...***************OPERATION***************The effects are automatic...The XML gauges are invisible, with no direct control by the pilot. The effects are independently activated by the XML gauges (while you fly) by detecting what part of the flight envelope you are in.The turbo-prop engine smoke appears from 4Kts up to 135kts (This XML gauge takes over the "smoke" key. Remove that gauge from the "panel cfg". to restore "smoke" key function. The wingflap vortices appear when the AC is in low-speed, high-lift, flaps-down conditions, ie. landing and take-off.The wingtip vortices appear when you pull or push some "G's", at any speed.Six "G" options included: 1.0, 1.33, 1.5, 1.75, 2.0, and 2.5 .These gauges can be easily adapted to other military aircraft.Note:Some XML gauge installations require the user to "peek" at the 2D panel containing the gauge at least once before it will activate, or "wake up". If the "Vcockpit" is used for this we apparently don't have to take this step....Another note: See cool vortex photos/info at this site: http:/www.eng.vt.edu/fluids/msc/gallery/gall.htmYet another Note: XML gauges are fun and easy to experiment with! 1) Double-click any XML gauge while in windows explorer; you see it in XML format:2) Rename the gauge temporarily, changing the ".xml" extension to ".txt":3) Make any (careful of spacing) changes with NOTEPAD:4) Save, then rename the gauge back to the ".xml" extension:5) Double-click again to see it in XML format; any syntax errors then show up.These gauges are so small they don't really need a zipped CAB. file, so just put them in a unique sub-folder in the FS2K2 "Gauges" folder. If you have some CAB. files already from default AC, *COPY them to a temp folder*, unzip with WinZip, and use for study examples. Be sure to make expendable copies first! WinZip cannot re-zip this type of file!!Comments are welcome. This is freeware, limited distribution,By I. Candymakeremail: [email protected]
