September 18, 200322 yr Is there any way that I can assign a function key, in my case F11, to a joystick button? I use F11 to bring up FSNavigator and it would be nice to do this using the joystick rather than having to reach for the keyboard. I've tried everything I know with no success. Thanks for any info.David
September 18, 200322 yr If your joystick doesn't have software that re-maps it's buttons. Find out which ones do what, select one and find out what key it generates and put that in the FSNavagitor/bin and in the Program.cfg and change the SwitchKey=F9 0 0 0. Or you can pay the awfully steep price of $30 for FSUIPC.Bill
September 18, 200322 yr Can't you simply do this within FS 'Options/Controls/Assignments', David? I'm not sure why everyone's suggesting FSUIPC for something so basic. Maybe I'm wrong, but it certainly works for me.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
September 18, 200322 yr Hi Mark,Unfortunately in FS200X, you can't program a joystick button to a key press that is not a "simulator" command (e.g. launching FSNav). You are programming a function, not a key press.I tried using the CH software to program my yoke, but it caused more problems than it solved! Have a FF2 as well and the MS software aint much better.Cheers,Andy
September 18, 200322 yr OK, Andy. But our poster seems to have been able to allocate F11 to FSNav which would normally be F9, so I thought that might work. Ah well, whatever, I'm not about to try it myself and screw up my painstakingly achieved settings! As for your yoke; I have a CH yoke and pedals set up in tandem with a Logitech Wingman. I use CH software (horrible stuff) to program my RW button on the yoke but then leave all other settings to DirectX and program them in FS. Works fine. Other threads here refer.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
September 19, 200322 yr Hi Mark,The option to use F9 or F11 (or any other key) to open FSNav is within the FSNav preferences.Do you keep your stick and yoke plugged in at the same time? I have to unplug the FF2 to use the yoke - otherwise I can get some very interesting control problems!Cheers,Andy
September 19, 200322 yr Hi AndyYes I do keep them plugged in together. The only controls they both share are ailerons and elevator (bank and pitch, in other words); I found I had to disable the throttle on the stick because of peaks and troughs, so I control that from the yoke even when using the stick.I gather I've been lucky, though; many people report conflicts with any shared assignment.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
