September 24, 200322 yr Really until support is coded into software the user wont be able to reap the total bennifits. As far as i know fs2004 has no extra support for 64 bit. games like unreal are already being worked on..As we have seen in the past ms hardly updates fs.. so prob have to wait till next version till we really see it supprting the 64 bit completely
September 24, 200322 yr And that will require a 64-bit OS as well. Remember, before Windows NT/95, you couldn't benefit from a 32-bit application even if you had one because Windows was 16-bit.Jim
September 24, 200322 yr Yes there are games that are being developed for 64 now. You are of course correct. Once the hardware (including the MB and other components) and software are all produced for 64bit, that is when the consumer will reap the benefits. Miller
September 26, 200322 yr "So what's the big deal about bits? A 32-bit processor can handle up to 4 billion bytes of memory - an amount rarely approached in ordinary desktop computing today. By comparison, a 64-bit chip can address 18 billion billion bytes. 18 billion gigs! That's great for massive database applications, nuclear blast simulations or long-range climate predictions. Down the road, 64-bit desktop processing will help PCs render images with lifelike realism, AMD officials say. But that's the future - when there's software available, and when so much memory will be affordable. Today, both the Athlon 64 and Apple's G5 are stuck in a 32-bit world." http://home.peoplepc.com/psp/newsstory.asp..._lead_story.xmlMiller
