September 28, 200322 yr Hi everybody,Something strange! As my volume is set a little louder than normal, I may "hear" the framerate of the sim (FS2002 and 2004), out of the speakers. This sounds like a steam locomotive (tshee tshee tshee) but the rythm correspond to the actual framerate displayed on the screen. This anoying sound is also to hear, when I'm scrolling an explorer window or a Word document. Deleting a text with the "Backspace" key also does generate that noise, once for each letter beeing deleted...IMHO this sound "eat" performance(?)Can somebody give me a hint, what it is or where to switch it off in the Windows environement?Specs: Dell Dimension 8300/ P4 3.06 GHz/ Win XP-Pro/ ATI Radeon 9800 Pro/ 2Gb RAMAny help greatly appreciated.
September 28, 200322 yr I believe that the sound is due to electromagnetic interferences in your PC's tower. Maybe you could try moving your soundcard to another slot, away from other components? That might help.
September 28, 200322 yr Author It's normal to hear those sounds if you have the volume turned up VERY high. I can hear that if I have the volume set to max on my speakers, but if I were to play a sound at that level, I would become deaf.If you here the sound even with lower volumes set, it's possible there is an IRQ conflict with the video card and soundcard. Also, open the computer and make sure that the soundcard is not in the slot next to the AGP slot or near another card such as the networking card if you have one. If you have onboard sound, disable it and buy an Audigy2 ;) -
