See my reply to Jim--the reason they turned weather off was due to dynamic weather, which could have been turned off....

}( }( Oh, I just gotta see it once in a while. Perks me up. I see hardocp used the default airport with a chase view in their benchmarks. Seemed like the way to do it. I can also see where Fsim would be difficult to get an accurate set of numbers on.

No prob John, thanks for the reply. :) I think Jim is right, it would need to be scripted.Jim R.

No! of course not! :-lolBTW Nice shots Big.This old box can't compete with ATI's great AA nor speed, but I still could not resist:lowly GF4 edit: (overclocked-see below) on lowly XP-Tbred running 1600x1200x32 4xAA 4xAF and actual trilinearhttp://www.frontiernet.net/~pleatzaw/images/new-7.jpgHo hum :-lolhttp://www.frontiernet.net/~pleatzaw/images/new-8.jpgAnad:If anyone thinks that those non AA/AF fugures were not bungled real bad you might want to consider that even a GF4 will not get hammered 2:1 unfiltered by a 9800P in FS4 when the settings and flights are the exactly the same...meaning canned flight, and all settings set manually the same (FS may make its own choice of settings based on hardware it sure makes you wonder...the 9800P/5900U are close under filterd conditions but unfilterd 2:1? :-lol

I believe its a wonderful sign of the times that review sites are finally using a wide variety of genres, using actual games, to test their cards with. That FS in particular is being attempted as a valid benchmark is what we've all wanted here forever. Lets not berate these sites on their methodology - it might just lead them to drop FS as a bench since it is indeed so hard to use as one (as we know, our calls to MS to implement an internal bench were once again ignored).Instead, why not get together here and create a canned flight that is truly representative of general, all around FS9 performance. As well, a specific set of .ini files should be created that keeps things the same between runs. This community knows the ins and outs of FS in much more detail than any other site on the net, so lets pitch in and help out where we can. Once done, lets send that set of files off to the main review sites and let them know in detail what the canned flight stresses and how it keeps things the same between runs (in a very constructive and helpful way, not criticizing them for their current methodology).Wada ya'll think?Elrond

"Wada ya'll think?"Yep

Hi Greg,So, that mean you'll tackle it? :-)Take care,Elrond

Certainly agree with you Elrond. It is great to see again that FS is being used to bench, though not as much as the good ole days when FS was considered a must use mark.I personaly can't spare the time right now but I do share your views and hope that better testing >methodologies< :-lol get put to use.
