Editing FS04 Air File

Featured Replies

I want to change the engine setting in the .air file of the FS04 Bell Ranger. When I tried to open it a message asked me what I wanted to use to open the file. I chose WORD and can only read part of the file. I get a lot of graphic symbols and boxes. How can I get it to display everything normally? Also, it changed the file's icon to a WORD symbol. Is this OK? How do I get it back to its default symbol? Thanks.

Look for a program called aired its here or at the other site , listed under fs98 I believe. It works for fs9.

You can use AirUpdate to dump it to text paste it into Excel, do maths, paste back and update the .air file.Go to:Air File Editorshttp://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/fsairfile.htmland for Airedupdatehttp://www.mudpond.us/You will get something like this:Record: 1501 *Engine TurbineFIELD 0x1501 0x0 DOUBLE 31000.000000 *Thrust - Static SL Reference (lb)FIELD 0x1501 0x8 DOUBLE 16.000000 *Intake Throat Area (sq.ft)FIELD 0x1501 0x10 DOUBLE 0.002000 *Spool Up RateFIELD 0x1501 0x18 DOUBLE 18288.000000 *Turbine N2 Max RPM ReferenceFIELD 0x1501 0x20 INT32 1 AfterburnerFIELD 0x1501 0x24 DOUBLE 1.000000 *Bypass Ratio?FIELD 0x1501 0x2c DOUBLE 1.000000 *Relative Efficiency??Helicopters use different records I think :-)Ian
