Hi Jamie,Your system looks similar to mine in as far as system specs AND things you have installed. It looks to me as if there is a number of things you could get rid of from starting up and Services that you could disable. I also have items installed that would have the following show up in my Task Manager but you'll notice that I don't have them showing up...PRONoMgr.exeCTFMON.exeNPROTECT.EXEGhostStartService.exeMsPMSPSv.exeThe reason they aren't showing up in my task manager is because I've optimized/tweaked my system. I recommend that you read my post titled "FS2004 and WinXP Optimization Guide" if you haven't already found here...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...topic_id=149511You could say I made it with situations just like yours in mind. ;) You might want to espcially take a look at the areas - System Services - and - Startup Programs - and finally the part concerning the 'default.xml' file. But I encourage you to read the whole thing if you can.Cheers and good luck,Jimhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/41230.jpg

Hi Ed,I see you posted a link to my posted thread as well. :-lol Well, I've never had any problem with the CTHELPER.exe process, but I have seen plenty of people that have and have posted about it on newsgroups. I decided to have a closer look by searching on Google just now and it seems that it is not a necessary process so I am considering deleting the entry from my Windows Registry in...HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> RunAs I stated in my thread I make a .reg file that contains the entry should I ever wish to restore the entry there.Cheerio,Jim

thanks a ton! Really appreciate it, I am going to go try to do these tweaks now, i cant get on my comp tomorrow, but ill let u know how it goes--thx for the help!

The following processes are all you need to have running in order to run Windows XP with full functionality but without all the bloat:taskmgr.exeexplorer.exespoolsv.exesvchost.exesvchost.exesvchost.exesvchost.exe (you should have 3-4 iterations of this)lsass.exeservices.exewinlogon.execsrss.exesmss.exeSystemSystem Idle Processand whatever processes your video drivers need to run (in my case it's nvsvc32.exe)-Max Cowgill
