October 11, 200322 yr Finally, we have something that can reasonably represent the flight of a General Aviation aircraft with confidence. I have absolutely no idea if this, or any other airplane, "flies" in a reasonably simulated manner. I have to rely on the skills of the people who produce them. There always seems to be some doubt arising concerning the flight characteristics of many aircraft. Since the entire experience is an illusion it is difficult to maintain that illusion when you see that your favorite aircraft (for many different reasons) may not be as true to flight as it could be. You now feel that you are just viewing scenery from above.Rob Young has a strong reputation for "getting it right". As such, a non-pilot such as myself can rely on the experience/illusion and not feel that I am fooling myself to an uncomfortably excessive level. As I manuever in fair or foul weather the RealAir 172 provides me with a standard that is not plagued with doubt as to its fidelity.Dick KLBE regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
October 11, 200322 yr It is now a month or so since I got my FS2004. I decided not to repeat the "full hangar policy" I practiced with FS2002 - this time only aircraft that fly. No jitty, jumpy, crazy stuff.Only three aircraft fitted so far in my new concept; the default DC3 with the new add-on air file, the Fokker100 and the RealAir C172. If I will end up with 4-5 good a/c that's O.K. with me. They will probably be;a single engine g/a - that will be the RealAir C172a twin prop - DC3a twin jet - Fokker100a single turbo prop g/a - ?one good commercial jet - ?And then lets wait and see what comes up in 2004/5.In addition, of course, I will install a 100 or so gmax a/c with a lot of liveries for AI traffic - but will fly non of them.Have funSeevHome made flight controller (3 GoFlight modules, Hagstrom card, 3 axis-4 button double throttle, 104 switches and push buttons)Gigabyte Socket A Processor Motherboard GA-7VTX-HAMD XP 1700 Processor786 MB DDR MemoryAsus GeForce FX 5200 - 128 MB video cardMaxtor 40 GB 7200 HDDMaxtor 120 GB 7200 HDDHercules Fortissimo III sound card
October 11, 200322 yr >a single turbo prop g/a - ?>one good commercial jet - ?>Well, I could say the PMDG 737 or the Fokker 50, but that applies only to date.Tomorrow, PIC V2 or another Dash-8 from Frolov may come up and change all that. This is why peoples hangars tend to fill and why they keep coming to sites like this, isn't it?I do understand your point, but there will always be something better coming up. If that was not the case then this "hobby" or whatever you call it, would have died long ago.Anyway, good luck in choosing just one best of each category, although I have my doubts on how long that would last... :)/Mike
