Tips for Posky A330

Featured Replies

I loved that aircraft but its textures bring my system to its knees. I only have an AMD xp1800+ with a GF2 ti (64 mb) and 512 mb of ram...What I did was to use the MS imagetool to compress them to DXT3. That reduced the total amount of memory usage from 93 mb to 27 mb. It helped me a lot!Command line that I used:imagetool.exe -batch -DXT3 -nomip -bmp *.bmpBecareful with the VC textures as they should not be compressed if you're using fs2002.You can get the tool at: http://download.microsoft.com/download/Fli...extures_sdk.exeAlways keep a backup of the textures in case something goes wrong or you don't like the results. Also, in the aircraft.cfg, I changed:gear_system_type=0 to gear_system_type=1 //gear system is hydraulicyaw_damper_gain=0.000000 to yaw_damper_gain=1.000000 //aircraft has yaw damper. It might be possible that all your imported aircraft (jets) need those changes in the aircraft.cfg.Regards and thanks to the Posky Team!

Thanks for the tip. However when I load the a330 the texture is pretty much all black after the compression. Am I missing a step?ThanksPat
