November 3, 201015 yr My WinXP Professional Version 2002 SP3 PC has decided not to support my Logitech USB headset mid-flight. So now no voice for ATC!In Sounds and Audio Devices Properties.Hardware tab, WinXP insists on setting my sound device to 'Lite-On LTR-12101B', type 'DVD/CD-ROM drives' (used to drive my CD-ROM drive). The 'Test hardware' button provides voice recording and playback successfully. But when I try to set my driver to 'USB Audio Device', this is not set, but XP insists on resetting to the CD-ROM driver (when I choose 'USB Audio Device', the 'Apply' button remains greyed out). When I subsequently try Squawkbox 4.Options.Voice.Calibrate Microphone, I receive the message 'There was a lot of background noise' even though there was none, and no playback of my voice. What can I do to fix this problem, or should I just buy a pair of non-USB headsets with microphone?
