Don't see other aicraft correctly

Featured Replies

When flying online lately, all other aircraft partisipating are displayed to be of the same type that I'm using. If I for example use a Piper Archer, all other aircraft that I see are Piper Archers even though the pilot/s confirmed to me that they are using aircraft of a totally diiferent type.I don't know how, why or when it happened, because it use be right and when using Fs offline the AI aircraft that I see are what they are supposed to be.Anybobe got any help??Lodewyk

Hi LodewykYou need to install the Common shape libary in your aircraft folder. .You can download a copy at http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/seang1/csl/index.htmlHope this helpsCheersSimon

SimonThanks for the link but I noted the readme indicates this is for "FS2002 Only". Does the CSL 2k2 Beta work with FS2004/COF also and if not, does a CSL library compatible with FS2004 exist?Larry Jones

Dear Lodewyk,In order to see other peoples aircraft as what they are actually flying in, you must have the same aircraft that they are flying installed in your MSFS. Even then, if either of you has made any CUSTOM EDITS to certain areas of that aircrafts 'aircraft.cfg' file, then you may not see the other persons aircraft as to what they are actually flying. If you do not have the same aircraft they are flying installed on your system, then you will see that person as flying the same aircraft that you are flying! If you are already on the server, and someone joins in a default aircraft, you will of course see them as flying that default aircraft. Or at least you should! If they then switch to an aircraft that you DO NOT have installed, then you will continue to see them as flying the default aircraft they first joined in as(if I recall correctly). Anyone else who joins the server after this person made the switch, will see this person as flying the same aircraft they are flying in, UNLESS, they have that aircraft installed on their system.IF, you have the aircraft installed that someone else is flying, and neither of you have edited your 'aircraft.cfg' files and you are still seeing him as flying the same aircraft you are in(but he is not), then I'm sorry, I don't know what is wrong.Sincerely,Jim

Simon,I've downloaded the coomon shape library but it still does'nt work.Even when the other person flies a default aircraft, it is still displayed the same as mine even though it's different.Suppose I'll have to live with it - I'm not too much of a PC boffin and don't know anything about changing .cfg files and all other stuff that I read about here on the forums. Thanks for your help anyway.CheersLodewyk

Jim,I've downloaded the commonshape library but it still does'nt work.Even if the other pilot is using a defualt aircraft, it's still displayed the same as what I'm using.I have'nt changed any files of any type, because I don't know how to do it. I can't even open a .cfg file.I've tried to install different panels wich I downloaded and didnt even get that right - after I installed them my aircraft has no gauges or no panel - that much said about my PC know how.Anyway - thanks for your help - I'll just live with this problem.CheersLodewyk

Jim is correct. The common shapes library only works if you are using SqwuakBox (SB) . If you arte using the default, then right click on the FS9 or FS2002 cfg and open with notepad, under the multiplayer section look for thses linesALLOW_PLANE_MODEL_SEND=0ALLOW_PLANE_MODEL_RECEIVE=0ALLOW_TEXTURE_SEND=0ALLOW_TEXTURE_RECEIVE=0Change them to =1, then saveRegards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com

Hi Lodewyk,Sorry, I don't know what's wrong then. I've never had to install the CSL to see other peoples planes. Do you talk to other players on this server when you're on there? Are they having this same problem? Where are you playing online at? The Zone by Microsoft? Vatsim? Just curious. I don't think I'll be able to solve the mystery, but perhaps someone else will have an idea what could be wrong. I could be a problem with the server. It could possibly be a problem on your end if you are running a firewall.Jim
