November 21, 201015 yr I had been using release 572, and I decided to try the latest beta to see what was different. After installing B640 over the existing installation, I thought I was seeing some winds aloft anomalies so I decided to switch back to 572. I uninstalled from the control panel, and deleted the remaining folders in program files. After reinstalling ASE 572, it fails to start. The box asking what version of FS I want to select appears, but the program hangs for a few seconds then crashes. Here's the log:10:31:27 AM:0204 - Loading Application Data Path10:31:27 AM:0204 - Application Data Path = D:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\ASE10:31:27 AM:0205 - Loading Application Executable Path10:31:27 AM:0205 - Application Executable Path = D:\Program Files (x86)\HiFi\ASE10:31:27 AM:0205 - ASE load commencing...10:31:27 AM:0205 - Verifying Active Sky Evolution LicenseI realized after the fact that I did not go to application data and delete the ASE files there. Now, when I go to control panel to remove the installation again, it doesn't show as installed.Only thing I can think is I screwed up by not deleting the files in app data. When I delete those now, in addition to the files in program files, the installation still fails.Any suggestions for getting me back to life here? November 21, 201015 yr Hi,Make sure your firewall is not blocking ASE from the Internet. Also, your installation is fine.
November 21, 201015 yr Author Hi,Make sure your firewall is not blocking ASE from the Internet. Also, your installation is fine.No firewall here. I disabled the Windows firewall as well as the AV, and reinstalled after deleting the two ASE folders. The install log again shows success. When I start the program, I get the screen asking me to select FSX or FS9. When I select OK, the program freezes with about 5 or 10 percent of the green progress bar showing. If I try to start the program again, I don't even get the FS version box popping up.Any other suggestions? What about the program log I copied showing activity ending with license verification?6:28:20 PM:0194 - Loading Application Data Path6:28:20 PM:0194 - Application Data Path = D:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\ASE6:28:20 PM:0197 - Loading Application Executable Path6:28:20 PM:0197 - Application Executable Path = D:\Program Files (x86)\HiFi\ASE6:28:20 PM:0197 - ASE load commencing...6:28:20 PM:0197 - Verifying Active Sky Evolution License Dave Skuback - KBLM'Cause down the shore everything's all right
November 22, 201015 yr Hi,"Verifying Active Sky Evolution License" as the last action shows that your ASE is not reaching the key server. When I checked your key before you had not reached the server, but now I checked and you have reached today, not that long ago.
November 22, 201015 yr Author Hi,"Verifying Active Sky Evolution License" as the last action shows that your ASE is not reaching the key server. When I checked your key before you had not reached the server, but now I checked and you have reached today, not that long ago.Hello again, Still no luck getting the program to start. I did a rollback to the day I installed b640 (the last successful time I had it working). I can now see ASE in the Add/Remove program thing, but when I try to start ASE, it throws an error dialog box stating "unhandled exception-files not found." The details state that "wind arrow silver.png" cannot be found at the installation location (...program files (x86)\hifi\ase\images\wind arrow....). If I OK that, the green loading bar advances to about the 90% point, "loading sim interface", where it hangs. So, while you may see my key reached the server, the program won't finish loading.I have reinstalled several times, each time deleting the two ASE folders (the data folder in "users" as well as the main program files. How do I get this thing up and running again? Should I be deleting any registry entries? If so, can you point me to where ASE might have written? November 22, 201015 yr Author Hi,Write me an email: jim(AT)hifisim.com asking for the ASE Full link.Uninstall ASE and manually delete the 2 ASE folders as before.Do a clean ASE install using the link I will give you.Hey,I think the problem is solved. After I got home from work, and before checking the forum, I removed the two folders in question. Then, I retrieved the original ASE download saved on an external drive. I noticed the label said ASE-FULL-B566. I also noticed the file was a lot larger than the update. I installed it and, of course, ASE started as it always did. Then I updated with B640 which of course worked perfectly.Damn, do I feel stupid. It took me two days to think of using the original installer I downloaded when you offered the free upgrade from ASA to ASE. Did I say I feel stupid?Just VERY glad to have ASE back and running. Love it; can't fly without it. Thanks for your patience. Dave Skuback - KBLM'Cause down the shore everything's all right
