November 25, 201015 yr I would appreciate if someone could advise me on this card upgrade (just with FSX in mind). I do have a CORE 2 DUO E8500 at 3.16 GHz and a Nividia GeForce 8800GT 512MB DDR3.I plan to upgrade to an i7 CPU in a (not-that-close) near future (that will require new Mobo, graphic card, power supply and memories...). Meanwhile I would like to take advantage of the relatively low price of the graphic cards and get a 1 Gb GTX460 card to replace my current 8800GT 512MB.Is it likely that this card upgrade will improve FSX performance (just in the borderline now...)? Or else, should I forget this upgrade and definitely get an i7 CPU when I can afford it?Thanks! Edmundo Azevedo
November 25, 201015 yr If you don't plan to build a new computer now I'd recommend you to await the release of the Intel Sandy Bridge processors. Maybe a Core i7 isn't an option by then, if money is an important factor in your equation.Go for a GTX460 now or wait? Your choice. Maybe somebody having a similar system have a good advice.
November 26, 201015 yr Save your pennies for the 570, slighltly better version of the 480 and it runs quieter but with cost similar to what a 470 cost now.For what its worth the 460 offers nearly the same performance in FSX as a 285GTX
