December 5, 201015 yr I'm new to the forum so greetings all!I just got back into FSX after some time away and I find my flaps aren't working. When I set them they always go back to 10º. I thought I might have broke them (trying full flaps at high speed?) but unless I'm looking in the wrong place they should be OK. I've changed the key settings but that didn't help. Short of a complete reinstall I don't know what else to try.Any help? Thanks in advance!
December 5, 201015 yr Welcome to Avsim. If you stick the default keys on, it should be F6 to raise flaps and F7 to lower them, and if that's not working with any aircraft (not simply the Cessna), then there is the possibility that a key itself might be faulty on your keyboard (unlikely but not impossible), so if it is all aircraft that fail to lower the flaps with those keys, I'd try a spare keyboard if you have one to see if that's the case.If it is just the C172 and you feel there is an error with your Cessna in how it is installed, you should be able to fix it by using the FSX installation disks to effect a repair. When you insert the disk, it should offer an option to repair things, although you may also have to uninstall the FSX Service Packs to ensure a repair works well.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

That's why I changed the key settings. Even if I 'manually' set my flaps using the mouse it goes back to 10º so I tried your suggestion of repairing using my DVD disks. Still no good! If I figure it out I'll let everyone know my solution.By the way, I've confirmed that it's a problem with ALL aircraft
December 5, 201015 yr Author After trying everything I could think of I finally un-installed and re-installed FSX. Flaps are working fine now ...
