December 14, 201015 yr Hi, I am thinking of upgrading from my 9800GTX 512mb cards. I run 2 in SLI mode. My CPU is a Q9550, 8 gigs of Ram and a 800 watt power supply. Any opinions on what would be a good upgrade? Thanks, Greg Greg Moore KFMH https://forum.pmdg.com/filedata/fetch?id=127275&d=1622041469&type=thumb
December 17, 201015 yr You're in basically the same boat that I am. I have a single 8800GT and I put a new video card on my letter to Santa. For you, I would focus MUCH less on SLI this time. Instead, get a very powerful single card. However, if you do a significant amount of FPS gaming, then SLI might be worth it, but if most of what you do is FS, stick with one.For me, the GTX470 looks like the best option at the moment. I would recommend going straight to the Fermis and skipping the 200 series all together. The 4 series should give you a good 4-5 years before needing to upgrade. Also, keep in mind, If you run a 32bit OS, then steer clear from too much memory on your new Video Card. Video Cards use up virtual memory on the OS, taking away memory that is able to be dedicated to the OS and programs running in it.
December 23, 201015 yr Author I talked to a EVGA Tech and he told me a single 460 GTX should be fine. Greg Moore KFMH https://forum.pmdg.com/filedata/fetch?id=127275&d=1622041469&type=thumb
