How do I retain my NVIDIA Media Center with 52.16 drivers?

Featured Replies

After updating and installation from the 45.33 to the new 52.16 drivers at the NVIDIA sight, I loose my Media Center Icon in the bottom right of the screen, and NVIDIA toolbar in the display properties window which supplied me with tweaking capability.I can roll back to the 45.33 drivers and recover them. Anybody know how to retain this capability with the new 52.16 drivers? Thanks:RTH

On your desktop, right mouseclick-->properties-->setup tab/last tab-->advanced button-->tab with name of your video card (mine: Gforce 4 Ti4200 with 8x AGP)-->check "display the NVIDIA settings icon in the taskbar"That should do the trick to get that little icon back and to tweak with AA and AF settings..:)Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gifEdited By Moderator

Rob:I am afraid as I mentioned in my post, part of my problem is that I have no NVIDIA settings Icon either. The driver shows up under advanced>Settings>Adapter>Driver, but no Icon.I am beginning to wonder if I got the total download, or if something was missing. Thanks for the suggestion.RTH

Well, I finally found it. For what it might be worth to somebody else, the following were my findings.I removed all NVIDIA drivers useing the WINXPPro add delete programs option under the control manager, and then reinstalled the 52.16 drivers. I discovered that I then had an NVIDIA tab under my Display>Advanced>Adapter choices.....But!.....After setting up my extended monitors, resolution, and refresh rates, it disappeared. Apparently it always was available, just not with dual monitors.I then disabeled my secondary extended monitor, and the tab was back. After a search of the options, I was able to make the proper selections and recover the Media Icon in the desktop taskbar. The dialogue is a little different from that of the past media centers, but I was able to make ONE selection of settings (NOT for monitor one and two, only one selection was offered).I selected my AA and AS choices, and continued. I am assuming that these settings are only available for, and apply to the primary monitor, which is a bit of a deletion from past driver versions. I suppose they could be common to both monitors. There is no indication that I see.I then enabled my secondary monitor. The NVIDIA Media Center was retained on my taskbar, but all of the options disappeared with the exception of "about NVIDIA Settings" which shows the copywrite and memory data only; and the "exit" option. The "Nview Display Mode", "Performance and quality settings", and the remaining 8 selections are not available in dual monitor mode. My assumption is that my settings which I made in the single view mode were retained, but I don't really know.P43.2P4C800 Deluxe with onboard Soundmax1G/400 MemTi4600/128 Primary AGP GraphicsViewsonic Pro Series P815 21" Primary MonitorSamsung SyncMaster 1100P+ 21" Secondary MonitorDiamond Stealth S540 PCI Secondary GraphicsVivitron 17" Third MonitorXPProDirectx9.0BI do not know if this is common to all, or system specific. I tried reversing my primary and secondary monitors, but it did the same thing. I really thus far see little difference in this driver from the 45.33 version (in which the media center was always available). Painted apron lines seem to flash a bit more particularlly at some SimFlyer airports, but I may just be noticing it more. I am going to try them for a while before reaching any conclusions.Hope this gives aid to somebody somewhere. Thanks:RTH
