December 21, 201015 yr Hi everyone,Just cooked-up myself a nice little Mini-ITX machine with the following ingredients :Silverstone SG-06 case with 450w PSUASUS M4A88T-I moboAMD Phenom II x4 945 3GHz running @ 3.6GHzBig Shuriken coolerOnboard Radeon 4250 GFX500GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA HDDCost = 35,000 yen ($420 , 320 euros)Its early days (day 2 in fact) and just been running stock FSX with Acceleration. With detail quite high (not enabled DX10 or bloom though) It can handle this default FSX very well. In Tokyo getting 20fps in an around Haneda. Out in the clouds 50fps is the norm. I set clouds to the max but draw distance is 60 miles. Autogen = dense. Scenery Complex = v.dense. Using skAI traffic. Not sure how this compares with Core i7, if anyone wants me to load a situation and see with the numbers are like I will try to oblige. The value for money in AMD land is very good and with a decent GFX board it will zip along. I am not too pushed about that yet, but when REX goes on that may change! The whole setup is very quiet with only 2 large fans churning air about the case and temps are all in good order. The mobo is outstanding, with all the overclocking and performance features you may not expect in such a small form factor. It packs Wifi, USB 3, PCI 16, HD audio... the list goes on... Its great to see these options available in the pint sized machines now. After all, high end laptops are packing lots of power now but most gamer desktops are massive power hungry things that I can&t make space for in a small Tokyo apartment! If there is anyone oput there using latest AMD Phenom cpus, chime in with your FSX findings or if you are running mini ITX too, would be good to hear about your setup.Regards, daelight
December 21, 201015 yr I'm using a Phenom ii X4 965 at 3.7GHz (212x17.5). With my GTX 260 I've been getting around 30FPS average in normal weather at big airports.
