October 29, 200322 yr There was a thread a while ago. Flash renamer is the program that was recommened to change the files to fa,wi,sp. It is rather time consumer though but I did it and on the most part I am happy all except for the blurries that I encounter with extended range textures. They still happen somewhat without it to but it isn't as bad as with it. I have a 64mb videocard Geforce3 ti-500 to be excat. I would like to upgrade and hopefully that blury problem will go away. Maybe you could tell me if you have the same problems to.
December 1, 200322 yr Sorry, It won't go away. I'm running a ATI 9800 256meg card and still get the problem of degrading blurries.
December 1, 200322 yr The biggest factors for clarity of ground textures on my system are clouds,ai,water reflection and heavy autogen. Turning all of these off produces excellent sharp textures. My system is dated but can handle the mega scenery nicely. Frames are locked at 40 with extended textures on. Nightime is superb and the best night textures ever done imo. I flew just last night into Memphis on my way home from the LSU/Arkansas football game and Casino row in Tunica and Memphis itself were dazzling spectacles of golden lights from the window of our NW CRJ.I do feel that FS's night lighting is too dim compared to real life and was wondering if there is a setting I can make in my card to brighten the night lights but not brighten the ground textures. I'll play with the contrast settings and see what happens.SkullyP4 1.4GF4 Ti 4200 128mb512mb RDRAMSoundblaster 512 pciWin XPhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/50788.jpg
