Engine and Door Selection Problems Resolved

Featured Replies

Off and on I've heard of people having problems with door and engine selection. The most common example is using E+1 to select the left engine and then E+2 or E+1+2 not working (only engine 1 remains selected). A similar problem exists with door selection. I had this problem myself, and since I prefer to start engines manually, it was quite frustrating. I spent a long time trying to fix the problem. I posted here as well as a number of other FS sites and forums, used several search engines, and IRC. I tried tweaking the various .cfg files. Finally, I found the problem, and thought I'd post it here for those who've spent fruitless, frustrating hours trying to work around the problem. I honestly don't remember where I found the solution (although it was in a public forum somewhere), and I can't seem to find it again, so I can't point to the original source. The source of the problem seems to be a broken XML gauge. The only known resolution so far is to remove the offending gauge and reconfigure any aircraft which use it for a different one. I'm afraid finding the broken gauge involves trial and error. I accidentally resolved my problem by re-installing FS9, and only added third party aircraft I used. The problem apparently was in an aircraft I tried and abandoned, as it has not re-occurred, so I don't know which gauge or aircraft it was.Good luck and good hunting.Rich---You know you're drinking too much coffee when people can test theirbatteries in your ears.
