January 5, 201115 yr Hello,I bought the PMDG MD-11 few weeks ago, but still learn to fly the bird with its all systems correctly. In my opinion definitely the best aircraft for the FS9.Ok, enough commendation. Now the questions:1.) The heading bar on the standby Instrument on the lower center instrument panel (not the compass under overhead panel) is flashing in the VC. Is this normal? KLICK2.) The Tutorial describes to push the Autoflight butten before lining up the rwy for take off which engages Autothrottles. But the Engines spool up to Takeoff Thrust as well without pushing Autoflight. What´s the difference?Thank you and best regardsVincent

And Markus absolutely no negative remarks intented your way!!! Great work to introduce this airplane as you did. These tutorials are great!!Well, apart from that:The difference is that thrust is set according to your Throttle angle, if Autoflight is not pushed. When pushing Autoflight before (during taxi/ or after 70% set), it will advance throttles to the FMC selected (derated) power setting.Regards,HarryPS: may have to check the simulation for conformity to real world operation.
January 6, 201115 yr Author Hello Harry, thanks for the fast reply. I understand your explanation. Thank you.I have one more question about the FMS:As you know there is a way to reduce thrust at TO with flex temp. In flight it works via the AUTO THRUST LIMITS Page. Is it possible to change the N1 values directly?I think the climb rate is very high climbing at CRZ THRUST MODE with an empty MD11 (TOGW: 130 tons). Any way to reduce thrust to lower level?best regardsVincent
