January 30, 201115 yr Hi guys,I am thinking of picking up a bargain value FSX Gold on Amazon but as I am away at Uni at the moment I do not have access to a very mediocre capable gaming desktop PC and wanted to test it out (i.e. if it installs properly) on my laptop. I have a Dell 1545, and before you say anything, it can run the demo version maxed out on all settings at around a constant 10FPS (surprising I know :( ), which is about the same as the mediocre desktop at home running FS9 on medium to low settings with Project AI traffic, at around 10FPS also (it has always been like this and it is flyable). So my question is: I know that FSX comes with a licence key. If I install it on my laptop and play around with it a bit before deciding whether or not I want to keep it on there, can I still install it onto another PC no matter what? It will be a pain if I can't. If not would a No-CD exe help?Any ideas will be appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Michael. Mike
January 30, 201115 yr Hi,Yes you can.No other utilities are needed, FSX does not require the DVD to be in the drive like FS9 does.
January 30, 201115 yr Author Hi,Yes you can.No other utilities are needed, FSX does not require the DVD to be in the drive like FS9 does.Brilliant. Thanks very much. :( Incidentally, I am an optimist but how likely do you think it is that the Gold edition will run persistently smoothly on my laptop at busy airports with medium to high settings, considering the demo runs at maxed out settings at around 10FPS? Mike
January 30, 201115 yr Author Hmm, oh well. I thought as much. When you look at the specs of the Dell 1545 to me it seems adequate on all levels except the graphics card - which of course it would be as it's a laptop... I need to start saving to build an actual decent gaming system that is capable of more than 15-20 FPS max. :( Any ideas of the bare minimum (but still decent) cost for a DIY system which will run FSX smoothly fairly consistently? Thanks anyways. Mike
