February 27, 201115 yr I haven't got to the point where I am using the FMC yet, so I've been going on short low altitude flights to learn more about the navigation displays during ILS approaches where I set up the NAV radios manually. What I would like to do is navigate away from a VOR in NAV 2 with DME info, and have NAV 1 dialed in to the ILS frequency, also with DME info. Can someone please tell me how to do that in the most direct manual way, and get both to display on the navigation display. Thanks!
February 28, 201115 yr I'm not sure if there's a very good way to do this that directly corresponds to basic IFR trainers. You could tune the NAV 2 to the VOR freq and have the RMI needles on the ND. If you know how to navigate by NDB, it's the same idea. As for the ILS, you would simply have the ILS freq dialed in. The ILS DME would be on the PFD and the NAV2 DME would be on the ND (if there is DME).It's as complicated as taking the time to learn the FMC, really. As a student on the 737, you'd sit at a computer trainer to make sure you knew how the FMC works before you'd set foot in the cockpit. You really should watch some LNAV tutorials.Good luck. Matt Cee
