Mega Scenery NY screen shots posted

Featured Replies

http://www.megascenery.com/title-ny.htmTis a shame that it looks as though it is not the same good image quality as the California product. :(This is very disappointing! Looks false coloring all over (too much white and gray) as well as very poor image data output from a GIS program (no GIS programs resample very well).Bummer!!!

Hmmm ... slightly underwhelmed myself; particularly as, to get any sharpness in those screenies, they've turned off mipmapping. The autogen stuff looks like FS5 if you look closely. Wonder how fuzzy it gets with everything checked ...Well, we'll see what the early orderers have to say .. when it finally arrives, that is!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Hi Mark,>Hmmm ... slightly underwhelmed myself; particularly as, to>get any sharpness in those screenies, they've turned off>mipmapping. It appears so...yuck!For those that need a bit of cheering up you can take a look here at some other screens of an area of photoreal NY (not megascene) a bit further North/West (Mipmapping full on):http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=98383&page=The autogen stuff looks like FS5 if you look>closely. Interesting shots ... couldn't do Bayville, Long Island while you're at it, could you, Paul? I've lost my dog and I might spot him from the air ...Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

I've lost my dog and I might>spot him from the air ...>:-lolNow in FS2k2 we would be able to do that for terrain, but unfortunately in FS2k4 we are limited to 4.8m/pix! :(FS2k2 at 1m/pix:http://www.frontiernet.net/~pleatzaw/images/ecto8.jpg

Paul, I'd take Smithtown if you will. Have this neighbor that lays out all summer ;).But in all seriousness....Where the hell can I get that scenery you posted. Stunning is the only word that comes to mind.Bobby

Dear Paul,First let me tell you that your scenery is just beautiful! Having lived in that area for about 5 years, I really crave, (Syracuse also), great scenery for that area. Don't stop working on that puppy, it's absolutely fantastic! On another note, I can't believe that the Mega scenery guys will put out NY which looks that bad. I'm hoping that those are just really bad screen shots, , and that the final product will be as good as Calif. But hey, success goes to everyones head from time to time, perhaps not!Anyway, great job on what you are doing . . . I just can't wait till you release it, really nice stuff.Best to you and yours,Clayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"

I too was disappointed with those screenshots- I think one of the big problems is that photrealistic scenery just doesn't work well in a heavily built up city- its the buildings which make things look realistic, not the streets, which you can hardly see as you fly above them in real life. Unfortunately there's only a minimal number of structures showing for Manhattan, having a detailed street grid only highlights the absence of vertical man made objects. No way I would purchase this.Best,Joel

Paul,I retired from the AF and then Business, I now live in Lauderdale, Mississippi, right down the road from Meridian. Meridian has a large NAS here in town where they train Navy pilots on T2's and T45's.I came down here to raise Quarter Horses and have to admit, am having the time of my life. My father had horses when I was a kid, then I went away to school and hadn't been on a horse for 30 years . . . its like riding a bike, you get right back into the swing of things. There is something about being on horseback which seems to take your troubles away . . . and I get the biggest kick in the spring when we have our new crop of babies. I try to be with the mare when she gives birth so that the foal see's me and his mother at the same time, that imprinting of love and affection really makes a difference in how a horse grows up and reacts to people.Besides, I've found most horses are more friendly than people. Anyways, you asked . . Best,Clay

Great stuff Clay, real life!My grandparents also raised a few horses, nothing like it.Take care.
