Remote Access to FS???

Featured Replies

Hmmmmm... okay, I'm a geek. I have potentially too much time on my hands. I recently found a remote desktop access program called TightVNC, open source, free, nice. It's got a decent refresh rate. In the midst of playing with accessing my home computer from work (on lunch break of course... hey! hush!), I decided to try Flight Simulator. I got about what I expected, about a frame every two seconds, but it kept conking out on me after about a minute or so, and I would have to reconnect. That made the question arise... do any of you use or have you used a remote desktop program to launch flights, and if not to launch then to monitor those flights that are long haul? I can't put FS on my computer at work, but this way I could 'log in' at lunchtime and see how things are going.Thoughts?I may have suggested something that actually hasn't been done before! Bwah hah hah hah! ...I need a life, lol.Ken

Here's what I do:I've got widefs set up on my laptop. when the wife bugs me to get out of my room and come sit in with her, I launch FSFlightmax on the laptop and monitor my flight from there. I can't make any changes of course, but I can monitor and see when I'm descending, airspeed that sort of thing. Not sure if you could do this at work though.

Hi, I use PSAnywhere by Symantec and LapLink to remote control my home machines from work. Monitoring a flight is possible if you use windowed mode and a fairly small FS window; starting a flight (with the need of control inputs) proved to be almost impossible on my setup, the lag of the keyboard inputs was to large to make sensible movements.
