Big problem with a Saitek backlights module. Help!

Hello I’m writing this for a friend who doesn’t speak English. He has bought a Saitek BIP panel and can’t use it. He has installed the latest software and the panel tests OK so it can be seen by the computer. The problem is that Flight Simulator X doesn’t see it at all so it can’t be used,. I told him to try forcing the driver to run in the menu before starting FSX but it doen’t work. Unfortunately, he can’t bring back to the store so he has to make it work. He has other panels and a yoke plus rudder pedals and throttle controls in his system and they all work fine. I also have a few panels but not the BIP and they all work fine too. I tried registering in the Saitek forum but it doesn’t work. Will I be able to register one of these days? It sure would help. Thank you for your attention and take care.Mike.

Hi Mike,AFAIK, the BIP uses SimConnect to 'talk' to FSX. So it sounds like possibly a simconnect problem. Make sure your friend has simconnect installed and updated. Sorry if this doesn't help, just the only thing I could think of as to why it's not communicating with FSX.Good luck!-George

Hi Mike,

I am having the same problem on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system I recently built. The BIP worked fine with the latest driver on my older 32 bit Windows Home system. Like your friend mine programmed just fine but it isn't doing any displaying while running FSX. I was able to prove there is nothing wrong with the BIP since it worked just fine with my older system. Even on systems where the BIP is working there appears to be a common problem to do with the wheel brakes status not being displayed. I believe that was the issue.Apparently the new driver did not correct that problem but many other issues were according to the post I read on the Flight Sim forum last night. Instead of the Saitek forum I would contact their tech support via email. I did not receive a single responce from anyone about my problem when I posted on the forum. Granted I had to wait a very long time till I heard back from tech support but since then I have had pretty fast turn around from the person now working with me.
