ATR 72

Featured Replies

Hi AllFor a change from jets I've been learning to fly the ATR-72 from Flight1.I absolutely love this aircraft but I'm having a really frustrating time performing ILS approaches. Here's how it's been going down....I've been using LNAV to make the aircraft follow my specified flight plan, then when the localiser comes alive, I've been taking it out of LNAV mode and putting it into LOC mode so that it lines up with the runway.Only it doesn't...it snakes all over the place from left to right in big movements instead of just gently banking to line up with the runway, and I end up only a couple of miles from the runway some considerable distance to the left or right of said runway, or it just ends up banking so far to the left or right that it actually steers the aircraft away from the runway.I guess I'm doing something wrong here. Am I missing a step? The NAV radio is tuned to the ILS, I get the DME in the display so all appears normal, and what I've described is a procedure I've done many times with little issue in the PMDG 737.Appreciate any helpThanksMartin

Hi Martin,I always experience those issues when i intercept the ILS LLZ with an interception angle more than 35/30°,if so,the ATR72 of F1 comes a little bit unstable and take more time to intercept, try to make several approach to check how it react.Regards,

Hi Martin.I suggest you to set correct CRS (course) and frequency and to engage HDG mode to intercept IAF (initial app fix). Be sure to switch from RNV to V/L (Vor/Localizer Capture mode) and then engage APP button.Never have any problems with ILS on this a/c.Edin
