March 24, 201115 yr Just saying... I installed XP on a second HD, run faster and no CTD all night yesterday???Also, if I don't OC more then ..3.6-8, no CTD.The fact FSX runs better with XP is probably because FSX was developed and released while XP was the OS. Many people have had great success installing FSX on another HD. I haven't had any problems with it installed on the main HD. Good to hear you are having great success with your new configuration. I think most of the CTD's are as a result of an unstable system when a lot of intense commands are placed on the CPU. FSX puts a lot of strain on the CPU so correct oc'ing is important. So far I haven't had a CTD with my new oc'd system.Best regards,Jim

No CTD (been a couple of weeks now since I replaced the defective MB). Have several addons - PMDG 747s, Captain Sim 757, Carenado aircraft, MyTrafficX, most of FS Dream Team airports, MegaScenery, FTX PNW, and lots more. Have not tweaked my fsx.cfg except I added highmemfix=1. I don't get fantastic FPS and have frames locked at 26 and it normally stays around 26 with no stuttering and excellent clarity. I did lose some frames when I ran the PMDG 747 in heavy weather (default weather engine) but it still ran smooth and everything functioned properly. That never happened with my old system (see below current system). Even with my older system, I had very few CTD's and the sim would usually crash when ATC, heavy weather, and a commercial addon aircraft was running. Just too much of a load but everything is smooth so far.Best regards,Jim
