FSX Performance?

Featured Replies

I have been flying FSX since the day it came out. And as my computers have gotten better, the performance has aswell but not by leaps and bounds by any means. What is FSX really tied to, clock speed threads, gpus? Am looking at my next upgrade and would like to know what would be the best way to go?I run Rex 2.0 Full up but have to turn the scenery in game down abit.Have PMDG MD-11, JS41, 747ES Citation X, SR20 - SR22Flight 1- P51, Citation Mustangan ERJ that isn't very good from someone lol.Any other must have mods for FSX? I have been using Rexs weather but it is really screwy like suddely you get a head wind of 70kts lol.Current systemAMD Phenom II X4 965 @3.82x Nvidia 295s8GB DDR 32x Velociraptors in Raid 0 10k RPM

In my opinion, at the minimum, an I7 overclocked to 4.00 or higher, 6GB ram, and a 1GB card. There are a million threads talking about performance for FSX.

Ok Ill do a search. I was waiting for AMDs bulldozer but maybe I should go for one of the i2xxx chips.

I know nothing about AMD, I have nothing good or bad to say about them. People I trust said intel was the way to go for FSX so that is what I have run for years.Like Tracon said above, FSX is all about CPU speed, the more the merrier.Performance in order of potential: 1) CPU 2) memory 3) GPU 4) HDDI follow this for tuning: http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187Some suggestions:1) Raid, unless through a professional controller is probably more of a hindrance than a help. You would likely be further ahead on a single Vrap. Also not recommended to have your OS on a Raid setup.2) FSX doesn't use SLI and I have read where SLI users of FSX have actually noted a performance decrease.
