November 25, 200322 yr Wondering if anyone has tried the "Advanced" flight model options available in the RealAir Decathalon folder? From what the ReadMe text says, these files are supposed to create a more realistic/challenging ground handling model. But do they make any compromises on in-flight handling as a trade off? Is the default standard flight model "easier" than real?Would love to hear from anyone who's tried the files and/or someone from the RealAir team, thanks!Best,Joel
November 25, 200322 yr Author HI Joel,The advancedhandling flight model increases the "swing" in the tail especially on the ground, but doesn't have any negative effects at all on the rest of the handling. If anything it makes some manoeuvres easier. As you probably know, small tail dragger aircraft are inherently unstable on the ground due to the pendulum effect of having the wheel at the back. In essence, if the tail moves out of line more than a certain amount and is not corrected, it can get to a point of no return and swing the whole aircraft round. The advanced Handling f/m does this, but within the rather tough limitations of Flight Simulator. The added benefits in the RealAir Decathlon's case is that this also puts more energy into yaw generally, so you'll find spins snappier and hammerheads dead easy, but in a left cross wind, with p-factor added you can actually ground loop very easily.Kind Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
