April 13, 201115 yr Thanks to the headsup in the screenshot forum, I downloaded the CLS Piper Arrow which was payware, and has now been contributed as freeware by CLS. This may not be PMDG quality from a technical standpoint, but is a bird of a feather well worth having in my hanger. Thanks so much CLS and the Flightsim Store. It has been a long time since I flew an Arrow, but if this old memory is correct at all, my bird was a bit slow. I don't have a Piper operating manual, but I did Google search for specs. 144 knots sounds about right unless I am mistaken for cruise speed, assumed to be about 75% power. Now, if you choose to try this, as always, make the first thing you do be to save a default backup of your aircraft.cfg (or the whole aircraft file if you prefer). If you don't like it or something starts to smell bad, you can always easily get back to go then.I made the following edits to my aircraft.cfg:[piston_engine]power_scalar = 1.37 //Piston power scalar[propeller]gear_reduction_ratio= 0.79 //Propeller gear reduction Both originally were listed as 1.00.This looked a bit more realistic to me. She will now cruise @ 144 knots at 7,500 MSL with a setting of 23" MP and 2,300 RPM which if I remember correctly is pretty close to spec. As expected, she will probably be slightly overpowered for the takeoff roll and climbout, but surprisingly to me this was nowhere near as drastic as I expected. According to Google, the bird only has a takeoff roll below 800' anyway at standard conditions. After gaining a little altitude, the climb rate is reasonably close as well.I also tried a higher toe_brakes_scale setting as well, but went back to the default listing of 0.74. If you choose to include a runup to check the mags before takeoff (And I hope that you do), She sits still @ 1,700 RPM, so I left her there. At full throttle with the brakes locked, she will creep ever so slightly even with an edit to 1.74. I didn't try above that, but if that is your thing, you will have to try a bit of trial and error editing here as well.Again, many thanks to CLS and FlightSim for this contribution. For what it is worth:Respectfully:RTHEdit: Note: This bird is good for both FS2004 and FSX.Until I had already posted, I did not realize that I was not on the FlightSim forum. Being that this contribution was available through the FlightSim store, my intentions were to only post there. My hope is that there is at least enough harmony between the two sites that I have not done a no no. If this annoys AvSim in anyway I sincerely apologize.RTH
