Which airliner to buy?

Featured Replies

I bought my first payware in July... PSS AirbusPro which was both challenging and nice - the sad thing was that a new sim appeared in August. Now after waiting a couple of months a patch for making it (PSS Airbus) fs2004 compatible has arrived. But there are still many problems with it. Now when Christmas is coming I'd like ask you for help. Is there any good medium range jet airliner specially made for fs2004? It should be somewhat bug-free and frame-rate-friendly. And one more requirement: suitable (handy) for on-line (vatsim) flying. Can you please name the +'s and -'s of the planes available?sww Airbuspmdg 737???Thnks in advanceP PulkkinenFinland

SSW Airbus- Flys nicely with the latest update. Still some problems but I believe they will get them ironed out. Nothing that will keep you from enjoying the plane.PMDG 737NG- My sig says it all:) Fantastic plane with great support. The SU2 update promoses to make it even better.(If it ever gets released)

Yup get the 737NG - I'm a tester for SU2 and you will NOT be disapointed when the patch is released! It's by far the most realistic airliner out there for FS2004 and aside from a few features that won't be added until the 800/900 phase of the project, it's probably even better than 767PIC v.1 in FS2002 as well at this point. Some other really good planes:Flight1 Piper Meridian - it's not an airliner but it might as well be - the avionics are among the most sophisticated availiable in a general aviation aircraft - it's great fun and the new 2004 version is even better than it was before!Flight1 DC-9 - really good old fashioned airliner - no glass!CaptainSim 727 - same thing, still has a few wierd quirks I'd like to see them iron out though.767PIC v2.0 should be out sometime relatively soon too - I'm sure that will be awesome considering the legacy of the first one.Ryan

Hey Ryan,If I offered you a really big bribe (I'll cut your grass every week next summer), would you send me the Beta of SU2:)Just kidding. Looking forward to the best add-on in FS getting even better.

oups, wrong posting

Good thread.. I own the fabulous MAAM-Sims Briefing Time B25j (#1 of all-time IMHO)and also the CaptainSim 727 with their upgrade for 2004. Both are fantastic! - but I do have one quick question for you, if I may, what quirks are you talking about on the 727? I think the panel lettering could be a lot more readable, for sure - and the docs are ok - but only if you also download Mike Stinchfield's "how to" add-on. I've also had a few minor issues with systems management components - such as a relight after an inadvertent fuel shutoff to an engine - which do not work. I'd be interested to know (from an expert) what else is wonky.thanks,pj
