April 18, 201115 yr Today I flew from KDFW to KMSP with the LDS 767. Winds at DFW were reported by RC ATIS as 165/24 which was the forecast winds from the National Weather service. When I arrived at MSP I received an ATIS that the winds were 170/24, which is 180 degrees away from the forecast winds of 330/07. Checking ASE reported winds they were 330/7. I have attached a pdf file of my ASE log. Jim if you or Damian can look at this and let me know what error made this issue occur I would really appreciated this. This is the first time I have seen this kind of problem in over 20 flights with ASE and using FSX.ThanksBob JohnsonDTW
April 18, 201115 yr Hi,Did you by chance the ASE depiction Mode?Since your last successful flight update your FSUIPC?
April 18, 201115 yr Author Hi,Did you by chance the ASE depiction Mode?Since your last successful flight update your FSUIPC?Hi Jim, I think the log should show that I have updated to FSUIPC 4.70 registered prior to this flight. I was in "Smooth Cloud Transition" depiction mode since I alway get good destination weather via Radar Contact ATIS. Having said that I did not read the warning in this made that it could result in destination wind inaccuracies. I have changed depiction mode on my next flight I will use "Direct Weather Control"Also on my previous flight KDFW to KMSP, I also had "Force ATC Wind Lock" ON, I have now unchecked that, opinions. I also have checked "Force Destination Weather Zone" on this flight.Look forward to hearing from youBob

April 21, 201115 yr Hi,You read it yourself that Smooth Cloud Transition Mode could result in destination wind inaccuracies! I am not sure what else I could add to this, but to say that this may happen.
April 23, 201115 yr Author Jim,One last question on this subject, I could not find it in the update documentation, but what does the new function "Force ATC Wind Lock" really do. I see what the tool tip says, but whats behind it, and are there any limitations?ThanksBob
April 23, 201115 yr Hi,That is used to lock in "calm" winds so that RC doesn't keep changing the runways. Pretty sure there is more about this at your forum!
