Hi: I am having some trouble adding new scenery to fs2004. This my first scenery addon so the addon scenery folder is empty.1. I downloaded a scenery file called viva_cyyj.zip, which is Victoria airport in Canada unzip to scenery texture SCENERY.dat2. I then copy and paste to fs9/addon scenery/scenery texture SCENERY.dat3. I then opened fs9 and went to settings and library and added the scenery. This all worked fine and I got the new scenery. My problem is that when I want to add another scenery file it want's to overwrite the previous one. Should I have placed the first addon into a folder of its own. i.e addon scenery/victoria intl/scenery textures SCENERY. To allow for new addons.Hope this explains what my issue is.Also can I just unzip to Fs9 /addon scenery directly? Thanks Ralph

The best way for adding scenery in my opinion is to always give it its own folder, then add it in game. For example:Create a folder in the 'addon scenery' folder called 'viva_cyyj'Then, just drop the scenery and texture folders from the zip inside that. Boot up flight sim and then add the scenery.Giving scenery its own folder helps avoid overwriting files that might have the same name, but are completely different. But with FS9, make sure you completely exit the game and then restart it, to see the scenery. After adding scenery in FS9, it needs to be restarted to rebuild the scenery cache thingy. FSX apparently doesnt.

If I extract directly to fs9/addon scenery , it works fine and adds the scenery after turning fs off and on. I can't see how I could add more scenery files in that case. i must be missing a step. One thing more. When in library and add area. The screen comes up Addon Scenery ect. Do I have to select files and hit ok , or just hit ok. When it works ok all I have been doing is hitting ok and the fs off /on. and is ok.Ralph

As you can see above, I added KFLL to my addon scenery folder. It is in a separate folder all its own. It doesnt share the addon scenery 'scenery' and 'texture' folders. To add the scenery to the sim, you boot up FS9, go to settings/scenery library/add area. Double click on Addon Scenery, then click once on the folder you want to add, in my case KFLL. Then click 'ok'.If you are using Windows 7(and maybe also Vista), when you click on the scenery folder you are adding, and hit ok, it will open up the folder....just click anywhere in the white area and it adds it.Just something funky about Win7.
