FSX Visual airport selector

Featured Replies

This is my first post so be kind! I have been using flight simulators for years now, and i enjoy them and use FSX everyday, but there is one thing that would make my life alot easier. When i am making a flight plan, picking the airport can be abit tricky, so i was wondering if there is a tool that allows you to select the airports for departure and landing, that is visual. Like a map of the earth that you can zoom in on the places and look at all the airports, like google earth. If you know of any tool, could you please post it here, thanksJake

Hmm, not possible inside FSX itself I think, although the "map" function can be used to some extent for flight planning, but I've never really used it.I know about the existence of a google earth file (kmz) which contains all default FSX airports all over the world. You can use that one in combination with google earth too look up the airports you want to use, then write down their identifiers, and then enter the identifiers in the FSX flight planner. I think this file is available in the avsim library.Another option is to use an external (mostly payware) flight planning software with a built-in map. I personally use FlightSim Commander and very happy with it.If you want a good free alternative, try googling "Plan-G" (mainly for VFR flying but can be handy for IFR too)Hope this helps.TJ
