MCDU Questions about wind

Featured Replies

i really need some preamble about input DES FORECAST =>there is five place that can fill manually about wind!at PERF page on Wilco A330 MCDUso what is it?!should i input that?!what is influence of input that data on aircraft and how?!really appreciated if somebody guide me on that

Since I couldn't be arsed typing it all out, this is a page from a A330 SOP manual I just scanned for you. I've deleted the airline name off it for obvious reasons, but it is the genuine page from the real thing:airbuspage-1.jpgYou would be able to get that weather and elevation data via ACARS, SELCAL or ATC in real life, so in FS use something like Active Sky's weather briefing page (very useful) or its cockpit gauge, or FS Flight Keeper's ACARS gauge. Alternatively, you can get a lot of that data via Radar Contact if you use that. If you have none of those, you can get most of that info from the map and weather set up pages in FS.On the real thing, the data you input affects the inputs the autopilot makes for throttle settings and such (i.e. it will alter settings on the fuel flow etc based on ambient temperatures etc). How well it does that on your simulated Airbus depends on how well the sim version emulates the real one. The Wilco one is not perfect in that regard, but it is about the best simulated Airbus you can get at the moment, unless you include the Simcheck non FBW A300, which is vastly superior to it, but that doesn't have all that fancy FMC stuff.Al
