HELP!

Featured Replies

I need the help of my fellow simmers, something wierd happened the other day while running FS2004. I noticed that my keyboard wasn't responding as normal I cannot cycle the views using the "S" keym shift 1-9 doesn't respond normally shift 1 which is usually panel display/hide doesn't do anything but shift 4 will bring up what shift 1 should be. I have not changed any of the key assignments, when I hit S it goes into the VC but I cannot cycle through I can't figure it out. I though maybe a new panel I installed was causing a conflict so I uninstalled with same results, I uninstalled FS2004 and re-installed it was ok so I started adding in my aircraft back in and it is doing it again I cannot figure it out and I have never had any issues like this before... Any help would be greatly appreciated!Respectfully,Jeff

Hi Jeff,I am nowhere near the guru status of some of the wonderful Simmers you will find in the community. However, there are many questions to be answered to even try to help as I see it. Did the keyboard work accurately before the new panel? I know you said you did an uninstall but did the kbd work ok? Do you use a cabled kbd or is it wireless? If cabled maybe a disconnect (like a reset might help). If it is wireless it will use batteries somewhere. Check the batt. status. What I might try if not too inconvenient is do your reinstall of FS2004 clean. Then try with everything in default conditions first. If it is still a problem then I think you need to the usual clean, defrag etc., If you have a spare kbd try that as well. If not see if you can borrow one. Sorry mate thats about it for me. You watch! some guru will respond with an instant answer. Good luck.God Bless,Rusty, aka greatdragon

Thank you great dragon for your reply. I am using a wireless, I was using the cable before when the issue initially occurred. I thought maybe it was a keyboard issue so I tried both but no success I still have limited functions. I think I am approaching the point where I may just have to uninstall and start over from scratch and re download everything. Again thanks for the suggestions!Jeff

Hello Jeff,Before you start uninstalling/reinstalling, I would look into the status of the keyboard driver. I had weird behaviour of the keyboard in the past (e.g. keys 'changing' places). Turned out to be a driver issue. Installing the latest driver solved the issue. Just my five cents...Regards,René
