May 13, 201115 yr For a number of years I have operated with two 21" ViewSonic Professional Series P815 CRT monitors (weigh a ton and take up an acre of space). One nice feature is that they each have four extended USP connections. A relatively short time ago I added a 23" HPw2338h LCD monitor for a multiple 3 monitor setup.Of late, one of my old CRT's has begun to dim at least for these old eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if the second CRT unit follows.Last week I received Amazon.com's periodical email advertising their latest offerings. Being that it looked like I had a unit that was beginning a slow death, I decided to investigate and possibly do a bit of upgrading. My findings might be of interest to anyone considering a new monitor.I purchased two "ViewSonic VA2431WM 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitors". I now have a multiple four monitor setup and am tickled to death with my new purchase. The monitors in question can be found at the following site:http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=VA2431WMYou will see that you must "Click to see the price". No, you will not have to buy it but go ahead and put one in your "Cart" to see the current price. If totally not interested, you can close the link and be back to go. My understanding is that the price has fluctuated a bit, but the current price is $169.88 (With free Super Saving Shipping). I made a visit to Wally World just to compare, and price wize the units in question looked hard to beat. Do read all of the replies. The monitors include sound (which I do not even have connected) which apparently is pretty weak. However, my existing HP LCD sound leaves something to be desired for the purest as well, but is fully adequate for PFE/PF2000 ATC which gets a world of use. The diagnoal measurement is about 23 1/2 inches too for whatever that may be worth. Neither of these are issues to me personally.I presently have a VGA hookup. The display is bright, crisp, sharp, colorful and everything I desire in a monitor as is, but is even supposed to be better with a DVI hookup. I also purchased two DVI cables for $8.73 that are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I can't imagine how the display could look any better, but we shall see what we shall see.I don't doubt but what for the purest there are better state of the art setups available, but these two monitors more than meet my needs, and I think you will find that the price is hard to beat. For what it might be worth:Respectfully:RTH
May 13, 201115 yr Author I wouldn't have believed it, but the DVI cables MAY make a difference. They were in my snail mail box today and I just hooked them up.I am not sure I really am seeing an improvement as I thought the display was about as good as it could get with the VGA connection, but I do see quite a difference between the intensity of the MS Welcome display on my existing HP LCD monitor which only has a VGA connection, and the same display upon startup on my new monitors. Don't know if it is just perception or reality, but it sure looks good to me. I would recommend these monitors.Happy flying:RTH
