Hi: I was wondering if one can file an IFP while enroute flying VFR from any position in the air. If so how is it done?

Hi,To start an IFR plan while flying VFR, you need to go to 'File' and select 'Flight Planner'. Put your departure and destination airport. Select IFR Plan, appropriate routing (for example : High Altitude Airways) and click on 'Find route'. Once FS looks into it's database to select the appropriate waypoints for you, select 'OK' and it will ask you if you want to save the flight plan. Hit 'Yes' and then click 'No' when the popup asks you if you want to be placed at your departure airport. This will make sure you're not relocated back at the gate.Once you've completed this, open the ATC window and it should give you an option to tune to the controller that is supposed to handle you in the particular airspace you're flying and select 'Request flight following'. There is also a video about this inside Flight Simulator 'Tutorials' section, accessible from the simulators main menu.That's about it and you should be vectored accordingly.Hope this helps.Cheers,
