Strange Graphics Behaviour

Featured Replies

I have a GTX 465 NVidia card running 2 monitors on Vista 64 bit, Dual core I5 CPU.FSX. All drivers are up to date.Problem is with add on Twin Otter and Dash8 where the panel is showing only the instruments on a flat white panel and the external paints are also blank white. On the aircraft selection panel the paints show correctly but disapear on selection. These aircraft all worked correctly on Win XP. All sliders for graphics are set to maximum. PMDG and others all display correctly.Second issue: The second monitor keeps going to sleep and the only way I can wake it is to go to the NVidia panel, de-select the second monitor then cancel, which wakes it up again.RegardsKevin Kyle

I believe this is a configuration error in 'nView'. You must set the option to 'dual view' and not display 1 & 2. That would only enable one monitor while the second one, as you described it, goes to sleep as it automatically becomes the inactive one. Cheers,

Thanks for that. Under the nView screen there is no Dual Screen option, only "Set up multiple displays.

Kevin,It's been really long since I made the transition to ATI from nVidia so excuse me for being rather random in guiding you than being specific. If I remember correctly, you can go through the 'set up wizard' and configure the dual monitors. If not, let me know I'll search through for a solution.Cheers,

KAran,i have used the same steps as the Wizard, so back to the drawing board. Also, do you have any ideas on the other problem re paints on freeware aircraft.RegardsKevin

Hey Kevin,As for the panel, you're definitely missing a texture or the texture is there but is not addressed correctly in the aicraft.cfg. Therefore, you're seeing a white panel. For the aircrafts, are they appearing white for any livery you choose ? Also, can you check the aircraft folder for a subfolder named 'Texture' ?Where did you download them from ? If they're PSS aircrafts, then they aren't compatible with FSX. You would have to install them to a temporary location and then copy the folders to their designated places inside FSX folder. Do the aircrafts stay white throughout or do they tend to load the textures after a short gap ? Do you have DX10 preview checked ? If so, disable it and see if that makes a difference as users before have found that to somehow cause the textures to be faulty. Lets hope we get something out of this! Otherwise, back to the mind-boggling task of 'reasoning'.Cheers,

Hi Karan,These aircraft are for FSX and have used them previously without problems.I have compared the texture files with other aircraft and they all seem to be setup the same. (These addons all have an autoinstaller)The External Paints stay white throughout, although the DC4 Panels are ok, but not the Dash8How do I access the DX10 Preview? Thanks for help so far.

The 'DX10 Preview' option should be located under 'Graphics'. It would only be available if you have Acceleration installed. I'm going to look around and see if I can spot a solution to this till then.Cheers,
