PMDG 747 CONTRAILS (REX)

Featured Replies

Hello, I am new to this forum, and I managed to find the PMDG forums so I thought I'd ask here.First of all, I am using the REX Contrails alongside with my REX 2.0 and other add ons. My aircraft is a PMDG 747X.Here is the problem. On other aircraft such as default fsx aircraft and freeware add ons/payware, they seem to be using the REX 3D Contrails which I have correctly installed. Next, when I loaded up my ACARS and started my VA's Scheduled Cargo flight, I waited as per normal for my 744 to hit cruise altitude and switch to outside view to see the contrails, to my dismay, it is not using the REX 3D Contrails, instead, it is using some 2D contrails which are my goodness, FLAT!I did a google search to see if there was a solution to this problem but most of it are abandoned. Here are a few things :1) FSX generates the contrails automatically2) FSX contrails have been overwritten with the REX 3D Contrails ( So shouldn't it be using REX's one? )3) Are there seperate effects for the PMDG747 for it's contrails? So as listed, I hope this comprehends what I am trying to say, and I hope any kind soul would offer the slightest help. It would be very much treasured always.Regards,Teddy Shazni.

It's ok Problem fixed and solved. I just renamed the contrails_l.fx/contrails_s.fx to the pmdg_vaportrail_r/l.fx and it works now. :(

Oh sweet! My friend told me the 747 wasn't compatible but now I can make it work. Gonna try it

Hey there,Make sure you rename the REX Contrails .fx to the PMDG's vaportrail.fx .Also, make a copy of the original REX Contrails .fx and paste it into your effects foler. This will allow FSX to read the contrails.fx for both your PMDG and other a/c, since you renamed the 1st Original to the PMDG vaportrail, now other a/c won't have the contrails effect, so with your other copy pasted (fx_contrails_l and fx_contrails_s) other a/c other than your PMDG 747 will be able to read the effect too.Follow these steps (ONLY FOR PMDG747 USERS) NOTE: MAKE A COPY OF YOUR REX 3D CONTRAILS BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT FOR LATER!!!1) Go to your EFFECTS FOLDER. 2) Find your fx_pmdg_vaportrail_l.fx and fx_pmdg_vaportrail_r.fx3) Find the fx_contrail_s.fx and fx_contrail_l.fx4) Delete or remove your pmdg vapor trails effects file to somewhere safe where you can find them.5) RENAME the fx_contrail_s.fx and fx_contrail_l.fx to fx_pmdg_vaportrail_l.fx and fx_pmdg_vaportrail_r.fxAfter you have done the above, copy your 2nd batch of REX Contrails which you have made a copy (I assume you did) and paste it into your MSFS/Effects folder. That's it! Now fly and enjoy your new contrails!!!! LOL.gifTeddy Shazni
