December 12, 200322 yr Hi All,Well I've been flying with the great cloud textures from FSW for a while (their first version, actually) and more recently the new water texture setup recommended last week.I'm ready to install the new BlueSphere textures and FSW night texture upgrade, but am concerned about keeping my great water and clouds as I'm guessing that some of these files are going to overwrite other the other authors' work as I install. Is there a "right" order to do this in order to get BlueSphere land textures, the Recommended water textures, FSW night lighting and clouds?Any advice appreciated, thanks!Joel
December 13, 200322 yr Hi Joel,Here's what I've done:All files mentioned below are available here in the Avsim file library.1. Gerrit Kranenbarg's 'BlueSphere Project'fs9envo2.zipfs9envo3.zipfs9envo4.zipfs9envo5.zipfs9envo6.zip2. Chris Willis's ......'Cloudfix V2' (ffpv2.zip), then 'Highest Clouds Performance V2' (HiFPSv2.zip) - cumulus01.bmp (dxt3) + cirrus (32bits).3. Chris Willis's 'Generic Night Lighting' (fs2k4gnight.zip) and his latest fix (gnfixv2.zip)4. Johan de Vries and Ed Truthan's 'OceanFX 2 - FS2004'ofx20sa.zipoceansfx.zipoceanstx.zip5. Water - my recommendations ;)(Texture combo utilising textures from Bill Lyons and Daniel Buechter in addition to those provided by Johan de Vries and Ed Truthan - see step 4) .....Search for the recent thread topic. In fact, the installation of the 'BlueSphere Project' does not appear to touch the 11 x env_*.bmp files nor the OceanHeightField.bmp file. If in doubt and you have already carried out the installation then backup these files before making any changes.Mike :-wave
December 13, 200322 yr I don't think any of the ground textures overwrite cloud or water textures. The BlueSphere product sounds like it may do some special things with some low clouds but I haven't explored their product and who knows, you may like it better.Basically I would install from the ground up:1. Ground Textures2. Night Textures3. Water Textures4. Cloud TexturesIf you already have the Water setup the way you want, go ahead and install items 1, 2 and 4. If things change that you don't like you can always reinstall what you think you lost. It sounds like a pain but it's not all that bad.
