December 15, 200322 yr I know this ought to belong in the hardware forum, but its fairly quiet.Don't know how, but I managed to lose the 'Save As' option when trying to download a file.I've tried reinstalling IE, reset defaults, and I still don't get it back.Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 15, 200322 yr Hi John,I had a similar problem recently, I lost the "open link in new window" option, and the following fixed it.I am not sure if it will work for the "save as" option, but its worth a try. Before you try this its also worth noting that the "content adviser" in IE will remove the save as linkGo to Start - Run (type each line below separately, then press OK)regsvr32 Shdocvw.dllregsvr32 Oleaut32.dllregsvr32 Actxprxy.dllregsvr32 Mshtml.dllregsvr32 Urlmon.dllBTW a great link for system help is > http://forums.techguy.org/index.phpDan
December 15, 200322 yr Many thanks for that Dan.I tried it, but alas it didn't work :(Again, thanks for the help! Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 15, 200322 yr Hi John,Shame it didnt work, the only other thing it could be is that you have altered the security or content adviser settings, have you, or anybody else changed anything?.I know that after a day at work many settings on my system have changed due to my daughter "playing" with it ;).Sorry I cant be of more help.Dan.
December 15, 200322 yr Hi Dan,No, I didn't change anything. I guess I accidently unticked the 'Always Ask' tick box.. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 15, 200322 yr Hi John,I just had this very thing happen to me... if I understand your question correctly. This is what I did to fix it. Open My Computer (or any window) and select the Tools menu, then File Options. Next, select the File Types tab then scroll down the list to the ZIP file type (it's probably the very last listing). Highlight the ZIP listing and then click on the Advanced button. Now, put a checkmark in the Confirm Open After Download box and then click OK on each window to close them. This is on a per file type basis. In other words, this will fix dowloading ZIP files but not another filetype such as EXE but chances are that the problem is only with ZIP fils anyway.I hope this fixes your problem. Please disreguard this message if this is not the problem you are having. Also note that this is for WinXP so other versions of Windows may differ slightly.Take care,
December 15, 200322 yr Tommy,You Sir are a champion! Thanks so much, problem solved. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 15, 200322 yr Same thing happened to me about a week ago. But hey!, there is one forum right here at Avsim that sometimes we forget to look at: Avsim file library forum. There are plenty of tips to resolve many issues. For ex. I read http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=940&page= and there it was !!! Resolve the problem :)Regards,Gabriel Mora.
