FS2002: Looking for Main Config. File

Featured Replies

Last time I de-fraged my hard drive, the graphics in the simulation were washed out, aircraft looked like they came from a sim in 1990.Anyway, deleting the main config file in the game and then restarting the sim worked. But now I can't seem to find the silly config file in the main folder.Anybody know where it is?I feel pretty inept here, I found it the last time. Dah!!Thanks for any help Happy Holidays!Rick

The FS2002.cfg file is located drive:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002. If it is missing, restarting fs2002 will regenerate a new copy and place it in the default folder listed above. If you cannot see the file extensions on the files in your folder, open Windows Explorer, select Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, and select: Show hidden files and folders, deselect: Hide extensions for known files types and Hide protected system operating files (recommended), ignore warning, OK. You should be able to see the file extensions.W. Sieffert

Yeah, that's what I thought too. But I don't see a "config" file in the FS2002 main folder There is a file that opens with Notepad titled "FS2002." It shows the airport I last left. Seems to show my configuration settings. But I'm not sure. Seems to me the last time I looked for the config file, it was plainly titled as such. But then again, maybe not.So, do you think the "fs2002" file is the file I'm looking for?

If you cannot see an extension on the file (*.cfg) or extensions on any of the other files, you need to reread my response above, second paragraph.W. Sieffert

Hi Rick,Good advice from W. Sieffert on viewing the file extensions in Windows, but if you have a file in the FS2002 main folder named "FS2002" then it MUST be the FS2002.cfg file.Normally, there should be no other files present in the FS2002 main folder named "FS2002". A minor exception would be the "FS2002dw" file that is created when the sim crashes for some reason and you get the "Send Report to Microsoft" error message.>So, do you think the "fs2002" file is the file I'm looking for?It shows the airport I last left.
