Go Flight GF-MCP Advanced Autopilot

Featured Replies

I just started using my GF-MCP Advanced Autopilot (not the PRO version) in a Bombardier. I flew from KGSO to KGSP and I noticed the following (and maybe I'm not using it correctly).

  1. I could not activate the COURSE feature --- the NAV button would not light up so I just used the HEADING knob to keep on track with a VOR radial -- all other AP functions worked correctly. Is this feature meant to maintain a course on a VOR radial that is tuned into the NAV radio? I was using the NAV radio with the VOR gauge to navigate.
  2. What is the function of the APR and BC buttons?
  3. I assume that the AP - CMD button serves the same purpose as the DISENGAGE bar.
  4. When I was on final, I hit the disengage bar but the button lights stayed lit and as soon as I landed I could not stop. It seemed as if the AP was still controlling the throttles and I couldn't even steer or brake even though my yoke worked during final.

Any ideas?ThanksAlanEDITOkay the BC button is for a Back Course function -- whatever that is. The APR is an approach hold -- again whatever that does.AP - CMD turns AP on and off -- not intuitive!I notice in the GF Config software that there is a check box under the Disengage Bar to disable auto throttle when the bar is pressed. Not sure why you would want to maintain the AP throttle control if you disengage the AP. Maybe that is why it wouldn't slow down on landing -- will test this.

1. Coursea. GPS/NAV switch with NAV selected: You need NAV1 tuned to a VOR and receiving the signal, orb. GPS/NAV switch with GPS selected: You need a flight plan loaded.2. APR - ApproachWhen flying an intrument approach (ILS (like a VOR at the end of the RWY), slecting APR will command the vertical speed so the aircraft follow the glideslope.3. BC - Back CourseUsed to fly an ILS Localizer approach (no glideslope guidance) to the opposite end the RWY.4. AP - DisengageDisengages the AP.5. AP CMD ButtonSimilar to the AD - Disnegage bar: For the AP to engage, the bar must be up and the CMD button pressed. The CMD button (with the bar already up) is used to activate the AP as right after take-off. The bar is usually used to deactivate the AP.6. AT - AutothrottleDisengaging the AP does not mean disengaging the AT. THey both operate independently. The checkbox to allow disconnecting the AT upon disconnecting the AP is there for convenience (though is not realistic).Cheers,- jahman.

Youre welcome!"3. BC - Back CourseUsed to fly an ILS Localizer approach (no glideslope guidance) to the opposite end the RWY."... meaning if the ILS is for runway 24 you could use Back Course for lateral guidance to approach runway ( 24 - 18 = ) 06 instead.Cheers,- jahman.

Thanks for that. So If I miss an approach to runway 24 I could fly past, turn around and fly the Back Course ILS approach to runway 06.Alan
