NGX saved flights

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm hoping a beta tester/PMDG can answer this. How good is the saved panel state in the NGX?In past PMDG products, the panel saving feature is very well done, but sometimes a switch may be out of place (i.e. lighting), or if winds are input into the FMC waypoints/descent page they are not saved. I love to save certain phases of flight, most notably pre takeoff at the runway holding point, or on the arrival to landing, to practice takeoffs and landings respectively. And I use FSUIPC to save the flight at a specific interval (about every 5 minutes) in the event FSX crashes so I can resume where I left off. I know the NGX is going to have a very full featured save panel/flight function, even adding new features if i'm not mistaken. I'm just curious as to how accurate the panel save function is, ideally, I'd love it if it captures every single parameter at the time of save so I'm not fumbling around putting switches in the right position or typing in wind entries all over again.

Winds are saved... Global forecast, waypoints, even the internal model ones after "mixing"

Good deal Dr Vaos! I would not expect any less from PMDG, and especially the NGX after reading up on all the mind blowing new to FSX features. Is there anything the NGX can't do?

Nice question, it is definitely important to have a precise save, above all for longer flights. Let me anyway suggest you to avoid loading saved flights to practice landings, definitely better to perform several of them on different situations, different weather and different runways and airports just like a real pilot in the reality. :( Mark Fosseth

I actually do that (for the non crash recovery flights) Thank goodness for Active Sky Evolution's historical time feature, as it's very helpful to have after recovering from a crash or if I split up a flight, which I often did on long hauls. As for the takeoff/approach practices, I will switch it up with different weather or night vs day after the intial load. Lately, I've been practicing strong crosswinds to test my skills, and I do agree it can be boring practicing the exact same routine over and over. The important thing for me is having the switches, FMC etc set up as needed with minimal time wasted setting things up.
