December 23, 200322 yr I sold my copy of FS2002 ahile back. My AMD 1700+ was just not up to the task. Well, I recently upgraded to an AMD 2600+ amd decided tp give it another try. I am pleased - and overwhelmed with the myriad of scenery, addons, and such. I had a few questions to get me started.First, where might I find good free scenery? I have no experience with any but the default, and I would hate to do trial and error when I could get some recommendations. Also, how to install it? I know this has been asked a million times, but I can find no definitive FAQ. I find bits and pieces - but most of it is specific to particular scenery and does not explain why files are placed where they are - they only give instructions. Also, what exactly is scenery layering? Is it merely preference for loading scenery? The higher something is on list it takes more precedence?I do have FSW installed. That is awesome. I had a question regarding that - are the installs permanent when I use the FSW interface? Or are preferences loaded for that particular session only?Last - does anyone know where I can get an F5? My favorite jet of all times? Thanks in advance for any help - I am really enjoying getting back into flying again and visiting the boards.
December 23, 200322 yr Go into the library advanced search and find the section on fs2k2 scenery. There are loads of files available. I have about 10 GB of freeware scenery and it is not too bad, considering. I will be the first to admit, however some of the store bought stuff is nothing short of spectacular...
December 23, 200322 yr Well, any good scenery package includes installation instructions.Basically, you need to put the bgl files into addon scenery*scenery name*scenery, then activate the scenery in FS (settings/scenery library). You can use any directory you want to, but I always use the addon scenery folder. The important thing is to activate it. First of all, I recommand most of the mesh files, for most of Europe and parts of the US. You could start by going into the library, selecting the category and sorting it by downloads.Well, and I'm sure you'll find an F5 (you mean the tiger?) in the library.-Daniel

December 23, 200322 yr Thanks for the link, Justin. I was able to d/l the Cascades mesh. I have some of your other mesh files but I spend a lot of time lately in the Pacific Northwest, and these Cascades should help me out a lot.I want to grab the Grand Canyon too, but that may have to wait for another day. -Lindy :-wave :-rotor
